Different forms of herbs used in Herbalism (Herbology/ Herbal Medicine) use the word Medicinal Plant. It is the application and the analysis of those uses of plants as medicine. The term "herb" is derivative from the word "herba" in Latin and the French word "herbe". Herb now applies to some portion of the plant, such as fruit, stem, seed, herb, bark, leaf, root, or a stigma, also a plant (non-woody). Earlier, only plants (non-woody), like those that come from shrubs and trees, were defined by the word “herb”. These plant species are also used for food, flavonoids, medication or perfume, as well as for some spiritual practices.  For medical purposes, plants were used even before the prehistoric times.  We can identify the usage of herbs in Egyptian Papyrus, Early Unani Manuscripts and Chinese writings. There is evidence that Indian Ayurveda Therapists, Unani Hakims, North Shamans, European Celts and Mediterranean Alchemists have been using herbs as medicine for over 4000 years. In their healing practices, indigenous communities like Mesopotamians, Iranians, Celts, Africans and Americans used herbs, while Oriental medicinal systems like Egiptian-Essenian,  Unani, Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine were settled in a way where herbal remedies and oils were used routinely. In the oriental countries Ayurveda and Unani Medicine are the most evolved and commonly used by the people up to nowadays. From the very ancient time many plants and their extracts are known as a major source of active ingredients. Numerous ailments are healed by medicinal plants like Tulsi, Neem, Aloe, Turmeric & Ginger. These are known in certain parts of the world as home remedies It is understood that many customers use Basil (Tulsi) in their everyday lives to create medication. Now, after discovering the function of herbs in Medicine, many consumers in their home gardens have started planting Tulsi as well as other medicinal paints. In addition, certain plants are deemed essential nutrient sources and are thus suggested for their therapeutic qualities. Ginger, Walnuts, Green Tea, Pepper, Aloe, and Turmeric, etc. are some of those species.   Recently, 80 % of people worldwide depend on herbal medicines for their basic health care needs, reported by the WHO. About twenty-one thousand plant species have the healing properties and can be used as medicinal herbs, according to the WHO. About three-quarters of the world's population mostly rely on plants and plant extracts for their medical needs, according to available statistics. Around 30 percent of all plant types have been used for medical purposes for one time or another. Plant drugs are planned to cover as much as 25 percent of the overall medicines in industrialized countries in Europe and the United States.  Up to 90 percent of the population in Africa and 70 percent in India rely on conventional drugs help meet their medical needs. Traditional Medicine accounts for nearly 40% of all health care provided in China, and more than 90 percent of general hospitals have conventional medicine systems. However, conventional medicine is not confined to developed countries, and popular interest in natural remedies has risen dramatically in developed countries during the past 2 decades, with the usage of ethnobotanicals growing. Around 38 percent of adults and 12 percent of children used a type of conventional Medicine in the US in 2017. According to a study, the most widely practiced complementary treatment (18.9 percent) was holistic therapy or the usage of medicinal resources other than minerals and vitamins.   Nowadays herbs are officially prescribed to cure chronic and severe illnesses and different disorders and issues, such as heart disease, prostate disorders, depression, inflammation, to improve the immune system, to name only a handful. Traditional herbal drugs played a leading role in the technique for controlling and curing SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) in China in 2013, as traditional herbal medication. The African Flower, has been used in Africa for decades to manage HIV-related wasting symptoms. Herbal medicines are still very popular in Europe, with France and Germany leading in over-the-counter sales of essential oils, herbal extracts, herbal tinctures, herbal teas. More and more herbal remedies may be found in pharmacy selling prescription medications in most developed countries all around the world.  The most important explanations for the usage of alternative medication are that it is more accessible, fits most directly to the philosophy of the consumer, alleviates fears about the harmful effects of artificial (synthetic) drugs, addresses a need for more customized health treatment, and provides better access to clinical knowledge for the public.  The ancient authors always claimed that herbs were just perfect ways to treat a multitude of ailments and diseases. Medicinal plant therapy is deemed very healthy since there are no side effects or minor side effects. Many of the medications are exempt from adverse effects or reactions. This is why the importance of herbal medicine is increasing around the world. This medicinal-grade herbs offer a reasonable way of curing many internal disorders that are often deemed difficult to remedy.  Such therapies are in harmony with nature, which is also the greatest gain.
